ALAN SWAIN
Alan Swain has devoted his life to playing and teaching the art form of jazz. He founded Swain Music Studios over 40 years ago as a response to people hearing him perform and asking "How can I play like that?" Along with Swain Music, Alan taught at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois as one of the first to bring jazz to the College curriculum. His academic training includes a BM from Tulsa University and MM from Northwestern University. He credits his life-long inspiration to his first jazz teacher,pianist and teacher from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In addition to teaching, Alan Swain has written several books, including The Four-Way Keyboard Sytem: Book I & II, and Improvise!. All books are available through our website. To learn more refer to the BOOKS menu.
